When it comes to getting photos done, there is SO many things to think about. Good thing I love to help you pick what to wear ;). The biggest thing I always ask is what vibe you are going for. Do you like downtown and dressed up? Do you like swimsuits and playing in the waves of the water? Do you want to run around a field? Do you want to dance your way through downtown?
I also have a Pinterest that I am constantly updating. It’s a great resource to look at different types of photoshoot inspiration and outfit inspiration.

First things First – Location
Location of your photos plays the biggest role in the vibe of your photoshoot. It also dictates what you should wear. If your photoshoot is at the beach, you’re not going to wear five inch stilettos. You will go for a softer, more casual outfit choice. I’m a big fan of a good pair of jeans and a plain shirt for any type of location. It’s a classic. Below are a few examples of different locations and great outfits for that location.
Coordinating Colors
Colors are the hardest part. I’m a big advocate for neutrals because they are timeless and easy to pair together. A pop of color can be great sometimes, but I want you to think about what is most timeless for your photos. When you look back at these in 10 years, I want you to still like them, not regret the color shirt you wore.
When it comes to dressing your partner, I love having contrast. For example: if you are wearing a white shirt and light blue jeans, have your partner wear a darker color shirt like navy or deep brown with a mid-wash jean. Different tones of white always pair well with blues and blacks.
Neutrals are great, but we also don’t want you blending in with the location or the background. To avoid that, choose different colors than the main ones in your location. If your location is a very green field, avoid wearing green. Think complimentary colors. Pinterest is a great tool for this. Searching “color combinations for ___ location photoshoot” can be very helpful. Below are a few of my favorite color combinations.
Patterns or Logos
Patterns and logos can be hard for photos. A lot of times they are overpowering. I am photographing you, not the brand. My tip is to avoid big or distracting logos and patterns when it comes to outfits.
